amy gordonI discovered yoga at age 15 with a woman I used to babysit for. My first yoga experience was located in a woman's house who had converted her basement into a yoga studio, equipped with candles, incense, oils and Indian sitar music. I was hooked...
As a former competetive dancer and dance teacher, Yoga was a way for me to continue to deepend my connection to my body, mind and breath. I began taking any class I could find, reading various books about yoga and philosophy and practiced many different yoga DVD videos. I have done various forms of yoga for about 15 years until finally deciding to complete my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in beautiful Kerala, India
While in India, I not only learned how to teach yoga and deepend my own personal practice, I also learned about yogic diet, theory & Hindu philosopshy, history of yoga, chanting, pranayamas and kriyas in one of the most serene places I have ever seen. It was truly a life changing experience and I am forever grateful to my teachers and gurus.
In my classes, I try to link classical Hatha Yoga asansas with breath and each Chakra associated to create a really enjoyable, balancing and relaxing yoga class. I enjoy teaching Yoga as much as I enjoy practicing my own.
